Agartala, 27th November 2025: Former Tipra Motha supremo and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Thursday accused national political parties of neglecting tribal communities, urging the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) to unite with Tipra Motha in the fight for tribal rights.
Speaking at a public rally organized by Tipra Motha in Agartala, Debbarma alleged that while many regional parties enter alliances with national parties out of greed or vested interests, they are later systematically erased from the political landscape. “If IPFT joins hands with Tipra Motha, only then can tribal interests be safeguarded. Otherwise, they risk fading away like Shiv Sena, Asom Gana Parishad, Bodoland People’s Front and other regional outfits,” he warned.
Debbarma also highlighted the administrative hurdles faced in organizing the rally in Agartala. “Other political parties can hold meetings here without difficulty, but we are subjected to unnecessary challenges,” he said. Despite these obstacles, he expressed satisfaction over the massive turnout from across the Northeast.
From the dais, Debbarma stressed that although the economic condition of tribal communities remains precarious, their courage and determination endure. “Today, tribals may not have money, but they have confidence. The North East platform is now a strong voice in their hands. One day, the demand for Greater Tipraland will be realized,” he asserted.
Calling for unity, Debbarma emphasized that only collective strength can protect tribal rights. “Through the North East platform, tribals must raise their voice together. Because unity is power,” he concluded.
