Agartala: July 20. Royal Scion and former Chairman of TIPRA Motha in Tripura Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Thursday said that Chief Minister N Biren Singh should be held responsible after a video of women paraded naked in Manipur circulated on social media.

On Video message, Pradyot said, “I have seen this video about Manipur and frankly speaking I feel sick in my stomach I feel disgusted. All my life wherever women were attacked in mainland India or abused, we have stood up against it and I have always told the rest of India that it is not like in the Northeast but today I feel for the first time in my life ashamed that this all is happening in my backyard”.

He claimed that the Chief Minister of Manipur himself knew about it and he has to be held accountable for the incident.

“The Chief Minister of Manipur has said that he is shocked after watching the video, but he is the home minister of the state. The state is small, it was circulating all over Manipur but we didn’t know as Internet was banned. I am sure, that the officials and the Chief Minister himself knew about it and he has to be held accountable. The prime minister has spoken today, the CJI has spoken today but we need to speak up also”, said Pradyot.

Pradyot further said that the demand for a separate administration obviously comes when the administration in Manipur is trying to take the side of one community over another.

“I am sorry that we didn’t speak out earlier but we should speak out earlier as we had no idea as the internet was shut down and we were told something else. We as Tipra Motha are with the sisters of Manipur and we stand with them and if the GOI doesn’t do something now then Manipur will be the experiment of heat”, he added.
