Agartala, 7th September 2025 : Tipra Motha founder and royal scion of Tripura, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, on Sunday appealed to people from the North East living in Delhi to join a non-political protest at Jantar Mantar on September 9. The demonstration, organised by indigenous people of Tripura, will focus on the issue of illegal migration and the delay in implementing the Tiprasa Accord.
In a video message, Pradyot said the protest will be held “without political flags or speeches, only under the Indian national flag,” to demand that the Centre address the concerns of Tripura’s indigenous community.
“We are also citizens of this country, and the Government of India must think about the future of Tripura’s indigenous people. The Tiprasa Accord was signed long ago, but despite several meetings, no conclusion has been reached. Why is the agreement being delayed?” he questioned.
He also highlighted the efforts of a Tripura youth, David Murasing, who walked to Delhi from Tripura to press for these demands.
“This is not about party politics but about Tiprasa unity. Earlier, our people fought for the District Council when they had nothing. Today we have resources but lack courage. If you care for your children’s future, now is the time to act. I am ready to fight, go to jail, even sacrifice my life if necessary,” Pradyot declared.
Urging all North Eastern residents in Delhi to show solidarity, he clarified that the movement is not against any community but solely for the “existence and survival” of Tripura’s indigenous people.
