Agartala: September 27. Transport minister Pranajit Singha Roy today inaugurated first ever prepaid autorickshaw and taxi services at Maharaja Bir Bikram International Airport today.

As per the initial prepaid chart, prepaid services will be available in 73 different destinations in Agartala city and suburbs. Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated this service at the airport premises today along with Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, MLA Dilip Das, Airport Authority Director KC Meena and others were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that the use of vehicle drivers plays an important role in showing the heritage of the state to the citizens who come from outside the state. The Transport Minister also said that the development of the tourism industry in the state is not possible without an improved transport system. “The state government has been working since the beginning to ensure that the natural beauty, spiritual sites and historical places of the state can be enjoyed by the common tourists through all kinds of facilities. Before starting any work, the thinking should be positive. Only then the work undertaken will achieve significant success”, said the minister.

He said that recently there have been reports of disagreements between the passengers and the vehicle drivers on various issues at the MBB Airport. In this case both the driver and the passenger should be aware of the actual situation. So the state government has taken the initiative to launch this prepaid service to create a harmonious environment.
