Agartala, April 18, 2023: Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Tuesday inaugurated an “Open Gym” at the premises of Hariyananda English Medium School here in Udaipur sub-division.
This open gym is organized by Gomati District Youth Affairs and Sports office in collaboration with Udaipur Municipal Council.
Udaipur Municipal Council’s chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, international sports personality Ratnamani Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Headmistress of Hariyananda English Medium School, secretary of the Flowers Club Kamaljit Saha, councillors of municipal council Bulti Das and Subir Das along with others were present.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the Finance minister Singha Roy emphasized on the importance of physical activity. He said that the state government has taken various programs to encourage sports in various areas. So far two open gyms have been opened in Udaipur and there are also proposals to introduce more.
He said that in the last five years various sports materials have been distributed in different parts of the state to encourage sports. He particularly urged the students and youth to lay emphasis on health and physical activity. He urged the citizens of the area to use this gym and maintain it. A large number of citizens of the area attended the opening ceremony.
