Agartala, 12th August 2025:   A group of pregnant women joined by the ruling party’s local panchayat member staged a sit-in protest today in front of the Habijjamura-Rasulmura Para Anganwadi Kendra under Charilam Block. The demonstrators expressed frustration over being denied benefits under two key government schemes- the Prime Minister’s Maternity Benefit Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Maternity Check-up Scheme.

The protest lasted from morning till afternoon drawing attention to alleged administrative lapses. Locals claimed that despite submitting all required documents to the Anganwadi worker known locally as “Didimani,” they have not received any assistance. The panchayat member and several expectant mothers were among those who had submitted paperwork seeking benefits.

Speaking to the media personnel here, Kendra’s worker stated that she had forwarded the documents to her higher authorities but was unaware of why the benefits had not been disbursed. The lack of response has sparked growing resentment among residents, prompting them to take their grievances public.
