Intoxicated man goes on rampage at Nutan Bazar police station; Five injured, CCTV damaged

Agartala, 12th August 2025:   A man under the influence of alcohol unleashed a violent rampage at Nutan Bazar police station damaging property and injuring five personnel, including a sub-inspector, two constables, and a Special Police Officer (SPO).

It is reported that the accused identified as Haradhan Debnath was brought to the station in an intoxicated state. Upon arrival, he began vandalizing essential items, including closed-circuit cameras. Once placed inside the lock-up, his aggression escalated further destroying two CCTV cameras and attempted suicide by wrapping a camera cable around his neck.

Police were forced to remove him from the lock-up, but he continued his violent behavior outside. It was only after his intoxication began to subside that officers managed to restrain him.

Nutan Bazar OC Subimal Barman stated that Haradhan Debnath has been booked for obstructing government work, attempting to assault police personnel and damaging public property. Following the registration of the case, he was produced before the Amarpur court, which remanded him to 14 days in Amarpur Sub-Divisional Jail.
