Agartala Oct 13: Tripura: President Droupadi Murmu accompanied by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Mnaik Saha flagged off the railway extension of the Guwahati-Kolkata-Guwahati train upto Agartala from the Agartala Railway station on Thursday morning.
Murmu also flagged off another extension of the Agartala-Jiribam-Agartala Jan Shatabdi Express upto Khongsang in Manipur.The introduction of these trains has opened a new horizon in the railway communication system of the state.Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, MoS Pratima Bhowmik, Transportation Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and officials of the NFR remained present in the day’s event.
The ruling government claimed that these two train services will benefit the vast masses of the state and outside and also help in increasing tourist flow in North East.The President Droupadi Murmu is on a 2 days visit to the state of Tripura and fly to Guwahati in Assam on Thursday afternoon where she is scheduled to virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various projects of the Union Ministries of electronics & information technology and health and family welfare and the government of Assam.
During its regular schedule, the express train (Agartala-Kolkata) will leave Agartala every Wednesday in morning and arrive in Kolkata in the afternoon the following day. Every Sunday, the train would leave Kolkata in the opposite direction and arrive in Agartala on Tuesday night.
