Agartala, 28th October 2025:  The Press Club of India has voiced serious concern over the alleged harassment of veteran Tripura journalist Pranab Sarkar, who is also a member of the club. In a statement issued by President Gautam Lahiri, the organization called for solidarity from the media fraternity and urged the Tripura government to ensure Sarkar’s safety.

The Tripura Journalists’ Union has also condemned the incident, alleging that a surrendered militant leader, now serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly intimidated Sarkar by filing a false complaint. The move was reportedly aimed at preventing the publication of reports exposing the MLA’s alleged misconduct.

“We urge the media community to stand firmly with Sarkar and call upon the state authorities to provide him with necessary protection,” the statement read.
