Agartala, 10th March 2025:  The TNGCL (Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited) South Zone Customer Care Office located on Sports School Road in Kabiraj Tilla has been serving the local people for the past 6 to 7 years. However, a recent decision to relocate the office to Krishnanagar has sparked significant outrage among local residents.

As the office staff began packing materials in preparation for the move, locals gathered and protested against the relocation today. They argued that shifting the office to Krishnanagar would cause immense inconvenience, as they would have to incur additional travel expenses to visit the office and report their grievances.

The protesters engaged in discussions with the office staff, who clarified that the decision was beyond their control and based on directives from higher authorities. Frustrated by this response, the locals resorted to locking the office premises as a form of protest. They emphasized that the relocation would pose major challenges for the 40,000 customers in the Kabiraj Tilla area, forcing them to travel farther for essential services.

A TNGCL official said, the office had been functioning in Kabiraj Tilla for the past six years, catering to the needs of a large customer base. The decision to relocate was prompted by a new tender, as per which the office would be moved to Krishnanagar. TNGCL stated that they had no control over this decision and assured residents that it was made in accordance with procedural guidelines.

Despite their explanations, the locals remain firm in their demand to retain the office in Kabiraj Tilla and expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of any assurances from TNGCL authorities.
