Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti celebrated at Kailashahar Press Club

Agartala, 1st June 2026:   Kailashahar witnessed an enchanting evening of literature, culture, and music as the Press Club organized the Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti celebration on Sunday. The event paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, drawing a large gathering of culture enthusiasts from the town.

The programme began with a welcome address by Press Club President Mohit Pal, who remarked, “Rabindranath and Nazrul are not just two shining stars of Bengali literature; they are pillars of our social consciousness, human values, and cultural identity. Their creations continue to guide us, and it is our collective responsibility to bring their philosophy and literature to the younger generation. This celebration is part of that effort.”

The cultural segment featured soulful renditions of Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti, poetry recitations, and reminiscences of the two literary giants. Performers including Susmita Halder, Seema Sinha, Mouli Chakraborty, Nilanjyoti Dhar, Kunal Choudhury, Shashwati Chakraborty, Ayan Roy, Sutapa Roy, and Anupam Pal captivated the audience with heartfelt presentations. The atmosphere turned deeply emotional as songs and poems evoked admiration and reverence for the timeless works of the poets. The event was anchored by Satyajit Dutta.

The evening left a lasting impression on attendees, who described it as a memorable cultural occasion in Kailashahar. Organizers affirmed that similar literary and cultural programmes will be arranged regularly to keep alive the legacy of the two great poets.
