Agartala, 17th April 2024: The auspicious occasion of Maha Navami marked the zenith of Basanti Puja celebrations at the historic Durga Bari Temple in Agartala. In keeping with time-honored traditions, the day was observed with a special puja ceremony attended by the Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, among other dignitaries.
Basanti Puja, also known as Chaitra Durga Puja, is a significant festival for Hindus and Bengalis, celebrated with much grandeur in the month of Chaitra, as opposed to the more widely known Durga Puja of Ashwin month. The Agartala Durga House, renowned for its religious and cultural significance, once again became the focal point for the festivities this year, drawing in a multitude of devotees to the Durgabari Mandap.
The Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, offered his prayers to the deity, seeking blessings for the prosperity and well-being of the state’s populace. In his address to the gathered faithful, Minister Roy expressed his heartfelt wishes for the continued happiness and peace of the people of Tripura. He emphasized the importance of the divine mother’s role in maintaining the state’s harmony and prayed for her guidance in the state’s future development.
The Maha Navami Tithi witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees, who thronged the temple premises, reflecting the deep-rooted spiritual ethos of the community. The air was filled with chants and hymns, as the faithful engaged in various rituals, seeking divine blessings.
