Ram Prasad Paul elected unopposed as Deputy Speaker of 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly

Agartala, March 28, 2023: Former minister and incumbent BJP MLA Ram Prasad Paul has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 13th state legislative assembly on Tuesday.

On the third day of the state assembly, Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen tabled the proposals placed by the Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha and Youth Affairs and Sports minister Tinku Roy favouring BJP MLA Ram Prasad Paul for the post of Deputy Speaker.

As there were no other proposals placed by the treasury and opposition benches, BJP MLA Paul has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 13th state legislative assembly on Tuesday.

After the announcement of the Deputy Speaker, Chief Minister Dr Saha, leader of opposition Animesh Debbarma, cabinet members Bikash Debbarma and Shukla Charan Noatia, and CPIM MLA Jitendra Chaudhury escorted Paul to the chair of the Deputy Speaker on the floor of the state assembly.

It is worthy to mention here that this precious moment of Deputy Speaker being elected unopposed was witnessed by former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, BJYM state president Nabadal Banik, Yuva Morcha state vice-president Vikki Prasad and others.
