Ratan Lal Nath chairs review meeting with Power department officials of Gomati and South Tripura districts

Agartala, April 12, 2023: A review meeting was held with the officials of Gomati and South Tripura Districts’ Power Department in the auditorium of Gomati Zilla Parishad’s conference hall here in Udaipur on Wednesday. 

State Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath was present and he was accompanied by General Manager Ranjan Debbarma of the TSECL, Gomati District AGM Sathi Chatterjee, South Tripura District AGM Kanti Dey and officials of two district. 

The Minister said that in these two districts there are 2,17,272 valid consumers of the Power Department.  Government aims to provide better services to those who are legitimate customers. He also said that the government is going to take measures already taken against those who steal electricity.

He warned those who are stealing electricity and said that according to the Electricity Act, those who steal electricity will be imprisoned for three years and fined Rs 10 thousand.  Besides, the minister requested the customers to pay the electricity bill every month so that if they pay the electricity bill on time, they will get five percent commission.  The months of April, May and June are usually heavy rains and storms.  Due to this, various problems of electricity arise.

The minister Nath said that this review meeting was held to find out what the problem is so that the customers do not suffer from long hours due to this transition.
