Ratan Lal Nath meets electrocuted worker admitted in GB Hospital; Airlifted to Kolkata for better treatment

Agartala, May 05, 2023: Power minister Ratan Lal Nath along with MLA Abhishek Debroy and Managing Director of TSECL Debasish Sarkar on Friday morning went to GBP Hospital here and met with the injured helper named Sukhen Das, who was electrocuted while working on an electricity transmission line in Udaipur.

Along with financial help, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited has given hope to the family of the injured electricity worker by providing referrals outside the state and necessary funds.

After inquiring about the physical condition of the injured electrician with the doctors, the doctors decided to refer the injured Sukhen Das outside the state. Accordingly, he was airlifted on Friday afternoon to a private hospital outside the state.

After Sukhen Babu was admitted to GB Hospital on Thursday night, TSECL handed over Rs 90,000 to his family for his treatment. After talking to the doctors at the hospital, the corporation has arranged to pay another Rs 1 lakh if necessary on Saturday.

The Power minister spoke to the doctors of the referred hospital regarding the treatment of the electricity workers. He said that the government will stand by the injured electrician. There will be no shortage of money for his better treatment. The minister also spoke to the resident commissioner of the building for the location of the injured worker’s family members in Kolkata. He also told the family of the injured worker that he would personally stand by the family if necessary.

Notably, the house of injured electrician Sukhen Das is in Rajnagar area of Udaipur under Bagma assembly constituency. He met with the accident on Thursday while repairing lines to provide speedy electricity service to consumers amid unseasonably hot weather.

Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath wished Sukhen a speedy recovery. At the same time, he urged the officials and workers of the electricity corporation to be especially diligent to keep the electricity service intact in the coming monsoon season.

Standing at the hospital today, minister said that if the staff officers of the corporation stand by the people, then the government will stand by them. The minister also stated strongly that there will be no shortage of the government’s will to stand by the corporation.
