Agartala, March 27, 2023: Agriculture and Power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday slammed the opposition Congress and CPIM political parties for deprivation of people during the rule for 10 and 35 years, respectively while development kissed the state’s fate after BJP-led government formed in 2018 and again in 2023.

While discussing on the ‘Motion of Thanks’ to the address by the Governor SN Arya on the first day of the 13th state assembly i.e. on March 24 last, Nath on Monday said “The BJP-led government under the chairmanship of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and incumbent Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha had flourished with development in all sectors during the past five years. The state has been moving forward following ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Bikash’ policy. The Governor in his speech has clearly pointed out the motive of the new government in Tripura.”

He has stated that the opposition parties’ MLAs Jitendra Chaudhury, Gopal Chandra Roy, Islam Uddin, Shailendra Chandra Nath, etc. had brought amendment in Governor’s speech.

Nath questioned the opposition parties especially CPIM and Congress that who had imported terror-like activities during pre and post elections period? Terror activities including attack, threats, violence, arson, etc. prospered during the reign of CPIM-led Left Front government and Congress-TUJS coalition government.

The senior cabinet minister has clearly cited several points of political violence with factual information through newspaper cuttings during assembly elections of 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013. “After every election, hundreds of Congress party workers faced extreme harassments on the hands of CPIM workers and now, for the sake of political interest, the leaders of the grand old national party had joined hands with the attackers and murders i.e. CPIM of their own party workers”, he alleged.

Minister said “The present government’s outlook is to build ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura’. We are looking forward in crafting a better future, make people ‘Atmanirbhar’ and ‘Swabalambi’ state. They are criticizing the present government as they are jealous.”

Citing some instances, Nath said “In 35 years of Leftist rule, the GSDP was Rs 43716 crore while it has become Rs 64778 crore in five years rule of BJP-led government. The problem of BRU people was left unsolved almost for 23 years while BJP government solved within 2 years of forming government. 75,000 people were given housing facilities under Awaas Yojana while 3.63 lakh families benefited under PMAY in BJP’s regime. 59 percent of the households received free tap water connection under JJM in four and half years, over a hundred of assistant professors appointed, 8659 teachers offered jobs, etc.”

At last, Nath clearly urged the young MLAs to be energetic in boosting the state’s development without any partisan role. He told them not to follow the footprints of Communists and democracy will never prevail whosoever is with them. He praised CM Dr Manik Saha’s role in making a prosperous Tripura.
