Ratanlal Nath and Ratan Chakraborty inaugurate Old Agartala general degree college at Tulakona

Agartala, September 28, 2022: Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday said that the educational institutions have an important role to play in developing disciplined human resources. Therefore, the government has given utmost importance to the expansion of educational opportunities in the state and the inauguration of the old Agartala Government General Degree College is one of the examples of this, he added.

While inaugurating the newly constructed building of the new Government General Degree College in the premises of Tulakona High School in Old Agartala block on Wednesday, Nath said that the government is moving forward with the goal of Prime Minister’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. “One of the means of this progress is education and educational institutions. Development of educational infrastructure and promotion of quality education has been given importance in the state”, he also added.

Inaugurating the college, Assembly’s Speaker Ratan Chakraborty expressed hope that talented students will come out from this college in the coming days. Chairman of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Biswajit Shil and Education department Secretary Sharadindu Chowdhury among others spoke on the occasion. Tripura Board of Secondary Education Chairman Dr Bhabatosh Saha, Higher Education department Director NC Sharma, social activist Amit Kumar Nandi and others were present on the occasion.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the principal of the college Dr Ratan Majumder. Sumana Das, associate professor of the college gave vote of thanks. Students of Tulakona High School presented an interesting cultural program on the occasion.

It is worthy to mention here that the first year of study will start in this college from this year. 50 students can be admitted in this college. This college has been built on five acres of land. Currently there are 11 classrooms. Rs 83 lakh have been spent on the construction of the newly constructed building of the college.
