Agartala, 17th June 2024:   A delegation of Rathkhala residents visited the Bamutia police outpost on Monday voicing their demands for immediate action on multiple pressing issues including the arrest of bike thieves and stringent measures against local drug dealers.

The protest followed the theft of a motorcycle, a Bajaj V15 model TR01AB-7988 belonging to Uttam Datta’s son-in-law. The bike was stolen on June 11 from the residence of Bimal Datta Chowdhury in Rathkhala. Despite a written complaint being filed five days back, the police have yet to make any arrests or recover the stolen bike prompting frustration and concern among the locals.

The residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the police’s inaction and highlighted the broader issue of drug-related activities in the area, which they believe are connected to the theft. Speaking to the media, a local Jayanthi Sharma shared th details and the community’s growing unease over the increasing crime and drug use.

The Rathkhala community is urging the Bamutia police to intensify their efforts in tackling these issues to restore safety and security in the area.
