Agartala, 18th November 2024: Following reports of a dilapidated road in the Thala Bhanga area of Chechurimai Gram Panchayat under Charilam RD Block, two officials from the RD department conducted an inspection on Monday afternoon. The road had been completely destroyed by a devastating flood three months back, which washed away the bricks and soil due to the strong currents of the Rangapania river. The condition of the road has severely impacted villagers, pedestrians, farmers, businessmen, and students, who have been unable to use it.
The inspection was carried out by Bishramganj RD Executive Engineer Samarendra Debbarma, SDO Rajib Debnath of Charilam RD Sub-Division, and Technical Assistant Soumen Saha. The officials visited the Thala Bhanga area within 24 hours of the news being published on November 16, highlighting the plight of the local residents.
Executive Engineer Samarendra Debbarma instructed SDO Debnath to commence repair work within two days and complete it within 20 days. “We came to visit the road after seeing the news in various media. The work will be started within two days and completed within 20 days,” said Debbarma speaking to media personnel.
The villagers expressed their happiness and relief at the promise made by the officials. “We are very happy with the commitment made by the R&D department officials. We hope the road will be repaired soon, and our daily lives will return to normal,” said a local resident.
The swift response from the R&D department underscores the importance of addressing infrastructure issues promptly to ensure the well-being of the community. The repair work is expected to bring much-needed relief to the residents of Thala Bhanga and restore normalcy to the area.
