Agartala, 28th March 2024 : Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP’s candidate for the West Parliamentary constituency, took a swipe at the CPI(M) during an election campaign for the Lok Sabha in Shantirbazar, Tripura.
Deb, a former Chief Minister of Tripura, urged CPI(M) supporters to vote for the BJP, asserting that true communists wouldn’t align with Congress.
Speaking at the event where he filed nominations alongside the INDIA Bloc candidate, Deb pointed out the absence of Manik Sarkar, a four-time Chief Minister and Politburo member of CPI(M), implying his disapproval of the Congress alliance. Deb stated, “Real CPI(M) leaders will never vote for Congress; the only viable option is BJP.”
Emphasizing the benefits Tripura has received under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Deb criticized CPI(M) for the state’s plight, accusing them of prioritizing power over welfare. He highlighted the plight of Congress workers, alleging brutal persecution under CPI(M) rule and their subsequent collaboration with BJP for the elections.
Deb’s remarks underscored the ideological divide between BJP and CPI(M), portraying BJP as the sole choice for those seeking development and change in Tripura.
