Agartala, 21st May 2025 : The Reformist Society has once again made its mark in the dance community, as two of its talented artists Subhangi Debnath and Ananya Sharma secured scholarships in the prestigious National Scholarship Examination conducted by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Subhangi Debnath has been awarded the national scholarship in Kathak dance, while Ananya Sharma earned recognition in folk dance. Both dancers are disciples of renowned guru Ratnadeep Roy and have upheld the legacy of the Reformist Society’s consistent success in recent years.
Subhangi, a student of Class VIII at Bykhora English Medium Higher Secondary School in South Tripura, hails from Bykhora West Charkbai. Her parents, Subrata and Popi Debnath, expressed immense joy at her achievement. Meanwhile, Ananya, a Class VII student at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Udaipur, comes from Kunjaban village in Gomti district. Her parents, Babul and Dolly Sharma, also celebrated her success.
The dancers received crucial support in their performances. Subhangi was accompanied by Saikat Chakraborty on tabla, Krishnadhan Lodh on vocals and harmonium, Sushmita Majumdar on bolbani, and Kaushik Narayan Dutta for additional assistance. Similarly, Ananya was assisted by Biswajit Das on vocals and harmonium, along with contributions from Sagarika Sharma, Sushmita Majumdar, and Kaushik Narayan Dutta.
Their achievements have brought immense joy to the cultural community, with congratulatory messages pouring in from individuals and organizations across Tripura, including Shantirbazar and Udaipur. Family members, friends, neighbors, and schoolmates have expressed pride and enthusiasm for their future in dance.
With their growing success, Subhangi and Ananya aspire to continue their journey in dance alongside their academic pursuits. The artistic community eagerly anticipates more milestones from these promising talents.
