Agartala, 21st April 2025: Incessant rains on Sunday night led to widespread waterlogging in Agartala city, with roads flooded and daily life disrupted. A significant incident occurred in the Office Line area early Monday morning at around 6:30 a.m., where a massive tree, uprooted by the storm, toppled a fifty-foot wall of the boys’ hostel near Umakant School. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Agartala Municipal Corporation and the Forest Department promptly intervened, clearing the tree and restoring road access swiftly.
The emergency department at GB Hospital faced severe waterlogging, affecting both patients and medical staff. Challenges persisted throughout the capital as rains continued to lash the city.

In Gomati district’s Udaipur, the surgical department of the district hospital was engulfed in mud and water, leaving patients in dire straits. Locals alleged negligence on the part of the hospital administration, who reportedly failed to take any corrective measures.
Meanwhile, electricity outages plagued multiple areas in southern Tripura since Sunday night, with Sabrum subdivision among the worst affected. Residents expressed frustration as the district remained without power, compounding their struggles. Additionally, Bilonia Hospital’s medicine department also succumbed to flooding, further inconveniencing the public.
In Hishyamukh Assembly Constituency, the Govinda Tripura Para Anganwadi Center at Ratanpur ADC Village was submerged due to rainfall. Locals attributed the situation to the unscientific construction of the elevated national highway, which obstructed the natural flow of rainwater. The resulting stagnant water around the center has disrupted education for children for the past two years.
Residents of the affected areas have urged the administration and department officials to take decisive steps to address these recurring issues ahead of the monsoon season, demanding a permanent solution to prevent further hardship.
