Agartala, 15th May 2025:  Local residents of the 82 Mile area in Longtharai Valley subdivision staged a road blockade on the Assam-Agartala National Highway today protesting the transfer of Dr. Akash Bhowmik. The move comes in response to longstanding concerns over the shortage of doctors at the 82 Mile hospital.

Dr. Bhowmik had recently been deputed to the hospital providing much-needed medical support. However, within a few days, authorities issued an order transferring him to Kamalpur Nakashipara hospital sparking outrage among the locals. Determined to retain his services, the protesters blocked the highway, demanding that the transfer order be revoked.

Upon receiving information about the blockade, police personnel and administrative officials from Longtaraivali rushed to the scene to manage the situation. At the time of reporting, the demonstration was ongoing, with residents insisting on immediate action to prevent Dr. Bhowmik’s departure.
