Agartala, 5th  February 2026 :   Residents of West Sambhajoy Para along the Amarpur–Gandacherra road staged a road blockade today, protesting against the long-standing problems of drinking water scarcity and dilapidated roads.

Locals said they have been suffering for years due to poor road conditions and lack of safe drinking water. Despite repeated appeals to the administration, no permanent solution was provided, prompting angry residents to take to the streets.

On receiving information, police from Amarpur Birganj station rushed to the spot. Additional forces were deployed to maintain order, and officials held discussions with the protesters. Police assured that the matter would be taken up urgently with the concerned departments.

Following this assurance, residents withdrew the blockade, but warned that they would resume protests if the problems are not resolved soon.
