Agartala, 3rd August 2024:   In a dramatic escalation of tensions, residents of the Ganki area in Khowai took drastic measures on Friday night, demolishing houses in protest against alleged anti-social activities.

The incident centers around two individuals, Shakil Miah of North Durganagar and Liton Deb Roy, the homeowner. Liton is accused of operating a sex trade from his residence, bringing young men and women from various regions and adversely affecting the local community. Despite multiple warnings from residents, Liton allegedly continued his illicit activities, exacerbating the situation.

The situation reached a boiling point when local residents, after observing the activities for some time, apprehended Shakil and Liton, along with some minors, and subsequently attacked Liton’s house. The assault resulted in extensive property damage, prompting a call to the Khowai police station.

Three individuals, including Shakil and Liton, were handed over to the authorities. Residents have voiced their frustration, emphasizing the negative influence Liton’s operations have had on local youth. They are demanding severe punishment for Liton Deb Roy and seeking a resolution to prevent further occurrences of such activities in their community.
