Residents of Agartala’s Ward 13 decry years of neglect over water, roads and drainage

Agartala, 27th October 2025:   Residents of Ward 13 under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) have raised serious concerns over persistent civic issues, including inadequate drinking water supply, crumbling roads, and a dysfunctional drainage system. Despite repeated complaints over the years, locals allege that the situation remains largely unchanged.

The ward falls under the jurisdiction of Mayor-in-Council member Pradip Chanda. However, residents claim that several roads in the area are riddled with potholes, and even light rainfall leads to waterlogging and muddy conditions. The drainage infrastructure, they say, is in a state of disrepair, causing dirty water to overflow onto the streets.

Adding to their woes, many households reportedly face frequent disruptions in drinking water supply, severely affecting daily life. “We’ve been living with these problems for years, yet no one from the administration seems to care,” said a local resident. “Promises were made during elections, but nothing has been done.”

Local sources informed that the residents are preparing to submit a formal written complaint to the municipal authorities in the coming days. As of now, the Agartala Municipal Corporation has not issued any official response regarding the matter.
