Agartala, 27th October 2025:   A no-confidence motion against the Chief of Rajnagar Gram Panchayat, under the Kadamtala RD Block in Tripura’s Kadamtala–Kurti Assembly constituency, was put to vote today.

Rajnagar Gram Panchayat jointly held by the Congress and CPI(M) following the last panchayat elections comprises 11 elected members: 4 from Congress, 2 from CPI(M), and 5 from BJP. The Pradhan Ruby Rani Das represented CPI(M), while the Upa-Pradhan Kabir Hossain was from the Congress.

The motion was initiated by Congress members, who submitted a written complaint to the Dharmanagar District Panchayat Office seeking the Pradhan’s removal. The vote on the motion took place at the panchayat premises today, overseen by Panchayat Officer Kajal Das as the presiding officer. Additional BDO of Panisagar RD Block, Joy Manik Banshi, along with other administrative officials were present as observers.

Out of the 11 votes cast, 9 supported the motion while only 2 opposed it, leading to the successful passage of the no-confidence motion against the Pradhan. No such motion was brought against the Upa-Pradhan.

The panchayat body remains intact for now, with only the Pradhan removed from office. The Dharmanagar District Panchayat authorities will determine the next steps regarding the administrative leadership of the panchayat.
