Agartala, 3rd November 2024:  In a heartbreaking turn of events, retired government employee Sampad Kumar Roy, a resident of the Banerjee Para of Agartala has been left destitute, allegedly forced out of his home by his own son, Dr. Prasenjit Roy, and daughter-in-law, Britika Adhikari, both of whom are practicing doctors.

According to local sources, the elderly man has been left to fend for himself on the streets after enduring severe neglect and mistreatment at the hands of his son and daughter-in-law.

Sampad Kumar Roy, who spent his life’s earnings to secure his son’s education and career, now finds himself without support in his twilight years.

In a soft yet bitter tone, he lamented, “I never thought I’d see such a day in my life. I gave everything to make my son a doctor, and now, I’m left on the streets.”

Reports suggest that for the past three days, Roy was allegedly locked in a part of the house, denied food, and deprived of basic medical care, despite his illness. On several occasions, Roy reportedly pleaded with his son and daughter-in-law for assistance, only to be met with indifference and hostility.

Adding to the tragedy, his daughter-in-law is accused of persistently demanding that he vacate the premises, even allegedly threatening violence if he resisted.

Eyewitnesses were appalled to see Roy, once a respected figure in the community, now homeless and helpless on the streets. The case underscores growing concerns around social degradation and the vulnerability of elderly citizens who lack legal or familial support in later life.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage within the community, with locals calling for justice and immediate intervention. Social welfare organizations and authorities are urged to step in and ensure the well-being and safety of Roy.
