Agartala, 3rd November 2024:  In a tragic and mysterious incident, Sapna Das, a 35-year-old housewife, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ residence in the central Bhubanban area of the capital. The deceased woman’s family has alleged foul play, suggesting her husband, Rajib Das, may be responsible for her death.

Sapna and Rajib were married for 18 years, but their relationship was reportedly strained. According to residents of Sapna’s father’s house, Rajib allegedly spent time with other women in rented accommodations, creating turmoil within the family. He would also reportedly pressure Sapna to ask her parents for money, leading to frequent family disputes. Relatives allege that Rajeev, often inebriated, would physically assault Sapna, prompting her to temporarily seek refuge at her father’s home recently due to the abuse.

The tension reached a tragic peak when, on Saturday morning, Sapna returned to her in-laws’ home. By midday, news of her death was reported. While Rajib and his family claimed it was a suicide, Sapna’s family is unconvinced, suspecting that she was murdered and then hanged to disguise the crime. The family’s suspicion grew when, a few days prior, Rajeev allegedly warned Sapna’s mother that she should stay with her daughter while he was away for work, threatening ominously that “she would understand” if anything went wrong.

After a post-mortem examination, Sapna’s body was released to her family on Sunday afternoon, leaving her relatives devastated and determined to uncover the truth.
