Agartala, 5th June 2025 : A protest by BMS-backed rickshaw pullers turned chaotic, causing severe disruption in front of the IGM Hospital today. The agitation centered around a deputation to the DM office over long-pending demands, resulted in traffic snarls and inconvenience for patients and common citizens alike.
Patients arriving at the hospital, many in critical condition, were reportedly delayed due to the obstruction created by agitating rickshaw pullers. Attendants of patients expressed their frustration over the complete breakdown of order in the hospital vicinity.
Despite the escalating disorder, there was no visible intervention from the police to restore normalcy. Eyewitnesses stated that traffic personnel were absent from key intersections, allowing the situation to spiral out of control.
Speaking to the media, a protesting rickshaw puller expressed dismay over restrictions imposed by traffic police. “The ‘no-entry’ rules block our usual short routes. We are forced to take longer roads, but the fare remains the same — passengers refuse to pay extra, and our earnings are hit,” he alleged.
