Irani police arrested a Rohingya youth, Indian tout

Agartala, 5th June 2025 :   Acting on a tip off,  Irani Police  arrested a Rohingya youth  last night from Dhaliarkandi,under Gournagar R & D Block. The youth is identified as Nur Mustafa (22).  Police also arrested Abdul Wahid, who was  providing him with illegal shelter.

Jayanta Karmakar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer informed “Based on reliable intelligence received late last night, a police team led by Sub-Inspectors Rulian and Abu Awal, along with ASI Gopal Dhan Sinha, surrounded the house of Abdul Wahid in Ward No. 5 of Dhaliyarkandi Panchayat under Irani Police Station jurisdiction. Nur Mustafa was detained from that house. He is a resident of Myanmar and a Rohingya national. His intention was to flee to Bangladesh.”

SDPO Karmakar further informed that in 2012, Nur Mustafa entered Bangladesh from Myanmar and lived with his family in Camp No. 9 in Cox’s Bazar. In 2019, he came to India through a broker and started working in Hyderabad. He was recently planning to return to Bangladesh with the help of an Indian agent.

A case has been registered under the BNS Act against both the Rohingya national and the local person who sheltered him at Irani Police Station (Case No. Irani/17/2025). Both the accused will be produced before the court today, May 5.
