Rising theft concerns at Depaichhari, probe underway

Agartala, 17th  March 2026 : The Depaichhari area under Nutonbazar police station has once again witnessed a surge in theft incidents, sparking concern among residents. Last night, a group of thieves broke into the home of local resident Dinesh Debnath, located near the cotton trees in Depaichhari.

According to Debnath, the intruders forced open the door of his main living quarters while his family was asleep in an adjacent room. The burglars allegedly smashed the almirah and fled with cash and gold ornaments. The crime was discovered the following morning when the family noticed the broken door and missing valuables.

Nutanbazar police station staff promptly visited the site after receiving the report and had registered a case. An investigation into the incident is underway.

Meanwhile, locals have voiced growing frustration over the increasing thefts in the area. They are demanding stronger night patrols and enhanced police presence to curb the menace.
