Agartala, 17th March 2026 : The Department of Animal Resources Development (ARDD) organized a free veterinary medical camp and awareness programme at Bijoynagar ADC Village under Boxanagar RD Block, aimed at supporting tribal livestock farmers.
The initiative was held at the Bijoynagar community shed, where medicines and vaccines were distributed free of cost to protect pigs, cattle, goats, ducks, and poultry from common diseases. Over 50 beneficiaries, mainly small-scale tribal farmers, received treatment and preventive care for their livestock.
Officials including Bikrampada Murashing (ARDD), Subhash Chandra Debbarma (Group D staff), and livestock assistant Lalita Debbarma coordinated the programme. They emphasized the importance of early medical consultation with veterinary doctors and livestock assistants to prevent disease outbreaks.
Local women farmers such as Rina Rani Debbarma, Mangal Devi Tripura, Sumitra Debbarma, Josna Debbarma, and Monjanu Rani Tripura expressed gratitude to the government for the free medicines. They highlighted that livestock rearing—pigs, cattle, goats, and poultry—remains the backbone of their household economy, and disease outbreaks often cause severe financial losses.
The beneficiaries urged the authorities to organize more such camps with greater supplies of medicines and veterinary doctors in the future, noting that such initiatives strengthen rural livelihoods and self-reliance.
