Agartala, 22nd March 2026: A tragic road accident took place at Noukaghat in Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district today early morning , leaving one person dead and nine others injured. The accident involved a Maruti Eeco car, and an auto-rickshaw.
According to eyewitnesses, the Eeco car was coming from the Udaipur side when it lost control and collided with an auto-rickshaw. Local residents, along with the Bishalgarh Fire Service, rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. All injured persons were immediately taken to Bishalgarh Hospital. Doctors at the hospital confirmed that a total of 10 people were brought in.
Among them, a 74-year-old woman, Saraswati Sarkar, died. The remaining nine victims sustained various injuries. After receiving primary treatment, all nine injured patients were referred to the GB Trauma Centre in Agartala for advanced medical care. Eyewitnesses alleged that the Eeco car was moving at a high speed at the time of the accident. One witness stated that the vehicle hit multiple targets before coming to a halt. Police reached the scene soon after and have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
