Agartala, August 09, 2022: People of Damcherra area under North Tripura district staged a road blockade on Tuesday with demand of road repairing and supply of safe drinking water.

It is learned that the poor condition of the road from Damcherra to the Assam border and the irregular water supply for a long time caused great distress among the locals. It is alleged that the local leadership or the higher authorities have not taken any initiative even though the matter has been repeatedly informed to the higher authorities including the leadership of the area.

As a result of which, today was the day of the price spread, the local residents took advantage of this opportunity to sit on the road block at Chaumuhani in Narendra Nagar area at 8:30 in the morning.  Residents blocked the road on two-point demand, resulting in extreme passenger suffering on both sides of the blockade.  After a long blockade, when the authorities assured that the road would be repaired and supply of drinking water would be regularised, the residents temporarily lifted the road blockade. They threatened to go for a larger agitation if their demands were not met soon.
