Agartala, August 09, 2022: Along with the entire country, Pradesh Congress Committee leaders and members are observing ‘Civil Disobedience Movement’ on Tuesday which was spearheaded by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi against the British colonists in August 09, 1942.

The PCC former president and MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, PYC president Rakhu Das, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, AICC Secretary Szarita Laitphlang, Mahila Congress president Laxmi Nag and others observed ‘Civil Disobedience Movement’ in front of Congress Bhavan here on Monday morning.

Later, speaking to media persons here, Roy said “On August 09, 1942, on this day, Gandhiji called for ‘Britishers Leave India’. But unfortunately, Savarkar and his company i.e. Vishwa Hindu Parishad were the agents of Britishers. At that time, Jawaharlal Nehru and Abdul Kalam Azad accompanied Mahatma Gandhi and raised voice of ‘Bharat Charo Andalon’, and India achieved independence on August 15, 1947. Hence, this day is very significant and a memorable day for Congress party as well as the citizens of India. As per the schedule of All India Congress Committee, Pradesh Congress is observing it.”
