RPF Seizes Over 6 kg of Cannabis, Arrests Youth at Agartala Station

Agartala, 22nd April 2026:  The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained a 26-year-old man during an operation conducted around 2 PM at the parking area of Agartala Railway Station.

The accused, identified as Delwar Hossain, hails from Nurul Haque Chowmuhani in the Urmai area under Sonamura Police Station in Sepahijala district. He is the son of late Tajul Islam.

According to RPF Officer-in-Charge Raju Bhowmik, the suspect was intercepted in the space between the RPF post and a “Pay and Use” toilet facility within the station premises. Upon searching his backpack, personnel recovered 6.005 kilograms of cannabis.

The seized substance, considered an illegal narcotic, has been confiscated. Police estimate its black market value at approximately Rs 50,000.

The accused has been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further questioning. A case has been registered under Sections 20(B)(ii)(B)/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 at Agartala GRPS Police Station (Case No. 2026 GRP-024).

Further investigation is ongoing.
