Agartala, 19th April 2026: A major spiritual and cultural gathering is scheduled to take place in Tripura on April 21, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Aadi Shankaracharya Jayanti.
The Prana Pratishtha and Kumbha Abhishekam ceremony of the Maa Chinmayi Soundarya Temple will be held at Fakira Mura in Mohanpur.
The event is expected to witness the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Their participation is expected to enhance the ceremonial and cultural importance of the occasion.
According to Amit Rakshit, President of Chinmaya Seva Trust under Chinmaya Mission International, the temple dedicated to Maa Tripura Sundari is a unique spiritual landmark. It has been constructed with 27 black stone pillars brought from Tamil Nadu, symbolizing the 27 Nakshatras in Hindu astrology. Notably, the structure has no conventional roof, representing an open connection with the divine.
At the sanctum lies a 15-foot black stone idol of Maa Tripura Sundari, along with a smaller idol inspired by the Mata Bari temple for daily worship rituals. The temple complex also features inscriptions and carvings depicting Devi Samundarya Leheri and devotional stutis, enriching its spiritual atmosphere.
A special highlight of the ceremony will be the distribution of Nakshatra-based prasad prepared from sacred Bel trees, symbolizing cosmic balance and divine blessings.
The trust has also announced social initiatives, including free value-based education for underprivileged children from more than 10,000 families. Priests from Nepal, selected through a rigorous process, will conduct the rituals to ensure traditional authenticity.
