Agartala: December 25. Drinking Water & Sanitation Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today claimed that days are not far that drinking water connection will reach every backyard in rural and urban areas of the state.
“Jal Jeevan Mission is providing drinking water connection to every house in rural areas of the state. In order to implement this program, necessary infrastructure is also being developed in rural and urban areas. That day is not far, drinking water connection will reach every backyard in rural and urban areas of the state. The mothers and sisters of the house no longer have to go outside the house for drinking water”, said Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at a function organized on the occasion of the inauguration of Jirania branch office of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department at Ranirbazar Shopping Complex premises today.
He said on the occasion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Jal Jeevan Mission to provide drinking water connection to every house in villages and cities. A target of 742,000 rural houses in the state was set to be connected with piped drinking water. Drinking water connection has already been delivered to 4 lakh 5 thousand houses.
On the occasion, the Minister said that the inauguration of the Jirania branch office of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation will speed up the work of providing potable water connections to homes. This will benefit the people of Jirania, Mandwi, Belbari, Old Agartala Block and Jirania Nagar Panchayat and Ranirbazar Municipal Council areas.
The Minister has directed the engineers of the department to take quick initiatives to provide potable water to the homes of the people in the region.He said, people do not have to come to the government. The government will reach out to the people. Good governance campaign in each house ends today. But this trend will continue in the coming days. The goal of this government is to rise above politics and work for public welfare.
