Agartala, 20th December 2024:  The Sadar District Congress has accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Baba Saheb Bhim Ramji Ambedkar, the author of the Indian Constitution, during a parliamentary session. In response, Congress workers staged a protest in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan on Friday, condemning Shah’s remarks.

A Congress leader stated that on December 17, during the winter session of Parliament, Amit Shah made derogatory comments about Baba Saheb Ambedkar. “The BJP government has insulted Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who gave the countrymen their rights. On Friday, the BJP is insulting that Baba Saheb Ambedkar. In fact, the BJP government is against the Constitution and against Ambedkar. Moreover, they are against the democracy of the country,” he alleged.

The leader further explained that the BJP’s actions are a direct affront to the principles of democracy and the legacy of Ambedkar. “When the Indi alliance joined the protest outside the parliament, the BJP MP attacked the opposition leader of the All India Congress, Rahul Gandhi. The Sadar District Congress strongly condemns and protests against this,” he added.

The Congress workers demanded that Amit Shah be dismissed from the Prime Minister’s cabinet, claiming that his remarks demonstrate his opposition to the Constitution. “Amit Shah is against the Constitution. Therefore, he should be dismissed from the Prime Minister’s cabinet immediately,” the leader asserted.

The protest highlighted the growing tensions between the Congress and the BJP, with Congress members expressing their outrage over what they perceive as an attack on the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution by its very author, Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
