Agartala, January 18: The enforcement team of the Sadar Sub-Divisional administration carried out a surprise raid in Ujjan Abhoynagar market on Thursday, and detected various violations in several shops. The raid was led by Sadar Food Department Officer Pradip Kumar Bhowmik, Chief Food Inspector Debjyoti Chakraborty, Sharmistha Das and other officials.
The team found that a grocery shop was operating without a food staff license, a display board, and a valid weight measuring certificate. The shop was sealed by the authorities. The team also seized a domestic gas cylinder that was being used illegally in a sweet shop. Moreover, the team recovered expired items from different shops, and issued notices to the shopkeepers.
The enforcement team said that the raid was conducted to ensure the quality and safety of the food items sold in the market, and to protect the rights of the consumers. The team warned that strict action would be taken against any shop that fails to comply with the rules and regulations.
