Agartala, 4th January 2026: The CPI(M) West Tripura district committee organized a protest in Agartala following reports that American forces allegedly entered Venezuela and abducted President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The protest began with a rally across the city, culminating in a public meeting. The chief speaker at the event was former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Addressing the gathering, Sarkar condemned the alleged actions of US President Donald Trump, saying such acts have sent shockwaves across the globe. He criticized India for remaining silent on the issue, suggesting that the country’s inaction is sending a wrong message internationally. Sarkar urged India to take an immediate and firm stand against such fascist measures.
The protest program was jointly organized by CPI(M), AIYF (All India Youth Federation), and AISF (All India Students’ Federation). The party leadership staged a demonstration in front of the CPI state office, expressing strong opposition to the role of the United States in the reported incident.
