Agartala, February 03: A group of school students staged a road blockade in Siddhi Ashram area of the capital on Saturday, after they were allegedly harassed by the daughter of a car workshop owner near Science City here. The police arrested the accused young woman and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the police, the students of Phulchari School in Sabroom had come to Science City here on an educational trip. They had parked their cars near a car workshop adjacent to Science City here. When they were returning to their cars after visiting Science City, the car workshop owner’s daughter sprayed water on them with a pipe and verbally abused them in obscene language. She also snatched the school banner from them and took it to the car workshop.
The students were outraged by this behavior and blocked the national highway in protest. They demanded action against the accused and the return of their school banner. The police of Amtali police station reached the spot and tried to pacify the students. They arrested the accused young woman and recovered the school banner from the car workshop.
A teacher of the school said that he was shocked by the misbehavior of the young woman. He said that such behavior was not acceptable in any way and that the young woman should have shown motherly affection to the students instead of harassing them. SDPO Prasun Kanti Tripura said that the accused young woman was in police custody and that the incident was under investigation. He appealed to the students to withdraw their blockade and resume their normal activities.
