Agartala, 3rd September 2026 : A tragic road accident claimed the life of a four-year-old girl in Dharmanagar after the auto-rickshaw in which she was travelling overturned while she was returning home from school. The deceased was identified as Riddhi Pal, daughter of Rupon Pal of Bordowali.
The accident reportedly took place in the Bordowali area at around 10 am. Riddhi sustained critical injuries in the mishap and was subsequently brought towards the area in front of Holy Cross School. Fire and emergency personnel later took charge of the injured child and rushed her to the District Hospital for treatment.
Hospital sources said Riddhi was in an extremely critical condition when she arrived. She had suffered severe injuries to the back of her head, besides bleeding from her nose and mouth. Medical personnel immediately attempted to revive her, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
A doctor attending to the child said she had sustained injuries to her scalp and skull, with a strong possibility of traumatic brain injury. However, her condition was so critical that she died before a CT scan could be performed. The doctor said a post-mortem examination would now be required to establish the precise cause of death.
Fire service personnel said they received information about the accident and immediately proceeded to Bordowali. On reaching the area, they found that the child had already been brought to a location near Holy Cross School in an Omni van. The personnel then transported her to the District Hospital.
The sudden death of the young schoolgirl has plunged her family into grief and cast a pall of gloom over the Bordowali area. The incident has also raised concerns over road safety and the need for greater caution while transporting schoolchildren.
