Agartala: September 29. Tripura Police has made adequate police arrangement to ensure peace and tranquillity during ensuing Durga Puja and other festivals.
Addressing a press conference this evening Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Jyotshiman Das Chowdhury said that unlike previous years this year the numbers of Durga Puja has significantly increased.
Last year around 2176 Durga Puja took place across the state while this year 2506. “Like previous years this year also Tripura Police has made adequate police arrangement to ensure peace and tranquillity during ensuing Durga Puja and other festivals. As off now as per record, this year around 2506 numbers of Durga Puja will be organised all over the State. Of them around 979 are in urban areas and around 1527 are in rural areas This year in Agartala Municipal Corporation area, around 436 Durga Puja will be organised”, said the cop.
He also said this year they have strengthened the numbers of security forces. Last year they have deployed around 2400 forces and this year it will more and also installed more than 99 CCTV cameras and additional 130 vehicles will be deployed.
“Tripura Police has already started taking preventive actions against anti social elements, checking of vulnerable places by BDDS team and conducted Special drives for in traffic enforcement in view of coming festive season. Adequate number of police, Tripura State Rifles and Special Police Officer (SPO) will be deployed during Durga Puja in all over the State. Some traffic restrictions will be imposed during Durga Puja days in and around Agartala city for specific duration”, he said.
