Agartala, 28th November 2024: Agartala witnessed a pivotal seminar on “Clean Energy Transition and Electricity Governance” on Thursday organized by the Tripura-based Consumer Protection Association led by advocate Amrit Lal Saha in collaboration with Chennai’s Civic Action Group (CAG). Held at the Agartala Press Club, the event highlighted the urgency of shifting from fossil fuel-based power generation to sustainable energy solutions.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who was unable to attend shared a message emphasizing the importance of this transition. “The project aims to boost clean energy transition in India by enhancing stakeholder engagement in electricity governance,” he stated. Nath also highlighted Tripura’s ambitious Energy Vision 2030 Roadmap, launched in July 2023, which focuses on sustainable energy solutions with affordability, availability, and reliability at its core.
Power Secretary Abhishek Singh delivered the keynote address, stressing the critical role of clean energy in environmental sustainability and development. “Growing access to electricity is a key index of progress for both the state and the country,” Singh noted. He elaborated on the need to expedite the move away from fossil fuels and align with global efforts toward clean energy leadership.
The seminar featured insightful contributions from CAG representative B. Kirubaran and TSECL Senior Manager Nirmal Debnath. Advocate Amrit Lal Saha delivered the presidential address, while TSECL Manager Arpita Chakraborty engaged the audience with a detailed presentation.
A question-and-answer session with the media concluded the event, fostering dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in clean energy adoption. The seminar reaffirmed Tripura’s commitment to advancing India’s clean energy goals while addressing local and national development needs.
