Agartala, 28th November 2024:  The second round of discussions on the Tiprasa Accord is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on December 3. Key issues on the agenda include the charter of demands submitted by the Tipra Motha Party and a detailed presentation on the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

The Ministry of Home Affairs, North East Division, issued a meeting notice confirming the rescheduled date. The notice stated that the Joint Working Group or Committee, formed under the Tripartite Agreement signed on March 2, 2024, among the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and the Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), will convene at 12:00 noon. This follows earlier notices dated October 30 and November 8.

The Tipra Motha Party’s founder and royal scion, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, emphasized the importance of the discussions, reiterating his commitment to prioritizing the interests of the Tiprasa community.

“I am pleased to confirm that the second round of talks on the Tiprasa Accord will be held on December 3. This marks the second official meeting in a span of two and a half months. The future of the Tiprasa people cannot be compromised. Our community’s growth and development must take precedence over the rehabilitation of a few leaders. Political favors will not influence our agenda,” said Debbarma.

The Tiprasa Accord discussions aim to address critical socio-political and developmental concerns of the indigenous communities in Tripura, with the TTAADC playing a central role in the deliberations.
