Agartala, 25th August 2025: Renowned senior teacher Rajesh Sur Chowdhury of Bishalgarh Higher Secondary School was left bloodied after a violent assault allegedly carried out by a group of anti-social elements near the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital this evening. The attack took place while Chowdhury was returning home from school.
In response to the incident, a large delegation led by Nabadal Banik, Chairman of the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation approached Bishalgarh Police Station demanding immediate arrests. The delegation included teachers from the school, hundreds of students and representatives from the Vivekananda Welfare Society.
Upon receiving the report, the SDPO rushed to the scene. The attack has heightened tension throughout the Bishalgarh subdivision, with local residents expressing deep concern over the deteriorating security situation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants launched a sudden and indiscriminate attack on Chowdhury before fleeing as local shopkeepers rushed to intervene. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
