Agartala, 6th February 2026 : Acting on secret information, police personnel of Debdaru Out Post (O.P) conducted a special drive against anti-social and gambling activities, leading to the arrest of seven gamblers from two separate locations on Thursday.
According to police sources, the first raid was carried out at a rubber garden in North Hichamara village under the jurisdiction of Debdaru O.P, where four persons were caught red-handed while playing cards with cash. The arrested persons have been identified as Ugya Jai Mog, Rafru Mog, Raju Mog and Amit Mog, all residents of North Hichamara village under Baikhora police station.
During the raid, police recovered two bundles of playing cards, cash amounting to Rs 2,500 and two mobile phones from their possession.
In a simultaneous operation, three more gamblers were arrested from Kowaifung market under Debdaru O.P jurisdiction of Baikhora police station. The arrested persons are Tejendra Tripura, Amrita Tripura and Hari Charan Tripura. Playing cards along with cash amounting to ₹1,000 were seized from them.
The anti-gambling operation was conducted under the able guidance and supervision of Debdaru O.P Officer-in-Charge Bakuljoy Reang. Speaking on the occasion, OC Reang said that maintaining a healthy social environment is a priority for the police. He noted that gambling, drug addiction and excessive alcohol consumption are negatively affecting the youth and emphasized that it is the responsibility of the police to protect young people from such destructive tendencies.
Further legal action against the accused is underway.
