Agartala, 29th August 2024: Seven newly elected panchayat members from Purba Jalefa Gram Panchayat located under the Satchand RD block of Sabroom sub-division boycotted the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Thursday. The reason behind their absence was their opposition to the Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan elections.
As per the pre-arranged schedule, the oath-taking ceremony was slated to begin at 11:30 am. However, due to the absence of these seven members, the ceremony was abruptly canceled. The party’s Sabroom Mandal President Jiten Tripura and party leader Kamal Kanti Sen representing the Pradesh BJP, patiently waited until approximately 3 pm. Despite making phone calls, the absent members did not show up compelling the party leaders to leave the venue.
In response to the situation, Satchand RD Block Additional BDO Madhuchanda Das announced that today’s swearing-in ceremony would be postponed. The new date for the ceremony will be communicated in due course.
